[info]hd_worldcup reveals are up!

The reveals for the Worldcup are up. Congratulations to Team Epilogue! Unfortunately, Team EWE came in last place, but not for any reason I can possibly fathom. We were a fantastic team with a brilliant array of artwork and stories and I can't imagine having worked alongside anybody else. &hearts

So, that said, now I have to fess up to which fic I wrote, huh? :-)

Title: Wheels Of Fire (The Official Autobiography of Harry Potter)
Team: Team EWE
Prompt: The Chariot
Wordcount: 9,468
Rating: NC-17 Probably more like R.
Warnings: Alternating point of view, offensive language.
Summary: Harry's been wanting to publish an autobiography for years; only problem is, he can't write for peanuts. Enter Draco Malfoy: broke, surly and the best ghost writer in the business.
Author's Note: Big thanks to my wonderful team, our lovely team captain and my two marvellous betas, [info]smarmypenguin and [info]bewarethesmirk. A big apology to Harry — I hope he'll forgive me. :-)

Unfortunately due to time constraints there were a number of flaws in this fic; I hope to get a chance to edit it sometime and repost it here. However, I did really enjoy writing it and would like to thank all the people who recced/commented so nicely. You really made my day.

What made my head absolutely EXPLODE with glee was [info]raitala's art for this fic, which you can see HERE (the second one down). I think she really managed to capture the feeling that I wanted for that moment - probably better than I managed to capture it myself. Gah. *g*

Now, I know there's been a helluva lot of wank surrounding this fest, but honestly? I've had so much fun (and am generally oblivious enough) to definitely want to participate again next time around. Especially if any of my fellow teamates will be there.

Because Team EWE? EWE guys rock. :-)

Warning(s): Offensive language.
Wordcount: 10,828
A/N: Written for last year’s Snupin Santa. My recipient dropped out so the brave [info]brunaghot got this instead. :-)

Brief Hiatus

Hey, guys! For the next few months or so, I'm going to be taking a brief hiatus. I'll be spending at least two months in Germany and my internet usage will be erratic at best while I'm there, so it's likely I won't be able to respond to comments/emails/posts etc in a very timely fashion. I most certainly won't have any time to read my f'list or check up on the latest fandom news, so here's hoping there won't be too many bombshells dropped in the near future. I like being there when fandom explodes. &hearts

If you've written me a fic for a fest and I haven't yet replied, please don't think it's because I hate it or that I'm not interested -- you'll likely be getting a squeeful response very soon. Nothing better than a tailor-made fic, after all, is there?

Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas and a fabulous New Year.

Tinkerty tonk. :-)

Yay, my [info]snarry_holidays fic has been posted!

Title: Evoking the Past
Author: [anonymous]
Pairing: Harry/Snape, Snape/OMC
Summary: Snape must help Harry find a serial killer before he strikes again.
Rating: NC-17
Warnings: Violence, Sexual Situations
Word Count: 9,088

Oh, guys! I remember now why I do fests: the gifts in return which you always forget about whilst slaving away over your own. It's such a wonderful experience seeing your name when you refresh that page and knowing the fic you are about to read has been especially tailored for you. This fic is great -- I don't know if the parallels with Silence Of The Lambs were intentional but even if they weren't, if you've read the book or seen the movie you'll understand the sort of intense psychological thrill I'm alluding to. This fic has detective!Harry, ambiguous!Snape and psychotic!Rowle (a wonderful OMC) and lots of intrigue, interaction and intercourse -- just the kind of things I like.

Oh, Christmas. :-)

<lj user

I think I take first prize for being the biggest egg this holiday season. My [info]snupin_santa gift was the first one posted and I didn't even realise! Deepest and sincerest apologise to my mystery author, who is now and will forever be one of my most favourite people in the world.

Because honestly. It's brilliant. It is the perfect mix of absolutely everything I adore about Snape/Lupin. A better story could not have been written had I stood by and dictacted every single one of my loves and preferences. And, folks, this isn't even bias -- this story is the epitome of good Snupin fic. :-)

Title: Remedy
Author: [anonymous]
Pairing: Snape/Lupin
Summary: Maturity is a bitter disappointment for which no remedy exists, unless laughter can be said to remedy anything. -Kurt Vonnegut
Rating: R
Warnings: Character death (not them, off-screen), mention of violence.
Word count: 6383
Notes: WRITTEN FOR ME FOR SNUPIN SANTA 2007 YAY.

My prompt was: Post-MWPP but pre-Professor!Snape -- angsty. Werewolf regulations are tightening on Remus and Snape's just starting to realise his mistake in joining the Death Eaters. They bump into each other in someplace scummy -- a rundown inn, perhaps? -- and things start to get interesting. And that was me thinking, "If I request my absolute perfect situation then anything that comes even close will be fantastic." But this nails it on the head. That perfect mixture of angst and romance, reluctance and need, past history and change -- I don't think I am going to be able to continue on with this rec without a big, enormous SQUEE! Their characterisations are perfect and the interaction is perfect and all of the little nuances and the way the story builds up is just guh. I want to rant on and on about it but I don't want to spoil it for everyone (because everyone must read this, no excuses -- if you've been looking to get into Snupin then this is your chance) so I'm just going to have to settle with saying Go. Now. Move.

Secret Mystery Author of Secrey, I &hearts you muchly. If I have not already friended you I deserve a thousand lashings. You win at the internets.

BANDSLASH FIC: Nick Cave/Blixa Bargeld

Ok, so. Question.

What is [info]captain_tulip doing instead of furiously writing fic for her looming deadlines?

Writing fic for non-existent deadlines. And, incidentally, non-existent fandoms. Feel free to pass this one right on by. Here's some incentive if you need it. ETA: Nick Cave in concert was FUCKING BRILLIANT. GOD. Nothing will ever compare.

Title: On An Endless Night
Author: [info]captain_tulip, me.
Pairing: Nick Cave/Blixa Bargeld
Fandom: Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds
Rating: Hard R-ish. I dunno.
Warnings: Substance abuse, offensive language, cringe-worthy allusions and my attempt at German!English.
Summary: A series of vignettes starting at the beginning and finishing at the end.
Wordcount: 2,490
Disclaimer: There are real people called Nick Cave and Blixa Bargeld?
A/N: If you're interested, this starts about '83 and ends around '97.

Sweeney Todd

ALAN RICKMAN. JOHNNY DEPP. SACHA BARON COHEN. HELENA BONHAM-CARTER. IN A MUSICAL DIRECTED BY TIM BURTON. FUCK, GOD LOVES ME.

(This is making me feel slightly better about the fact that all my exchange fics -- [info]hd_holidays, [info]snupin_santa and [info]snarry_holidays respectively -- are all going to shit. I shouldn't have signed up for so bloody many but I couldn't help it. I got so excited, y'know? And the worst thing is, my muse seems to have decided to do things somewhat "creatively different". *headdesk*)

And because I haven't talked about it -- House was effin great. Am loving the new season. *eek*

Also -- 16 days till I see Nick Cave live in concert. Just sayin'. *g*

FIC: Picking Daisies, Harry/Legolas, PG-13

[info]smarmypenguin and I used to do this thing where we'd give each other a fic every special event/holiday. This was written for Guyfawkes a few years back.

Title: Picking Daisies
Author: [info]captain_tulip, me.
Pairing: Harry Potter/Legolas Greenleaf
Fandom: Harry Potter/Lord of the Rings crossover
Rating: PG-13 for underage undertones.
Summary: "Do you like boys, Harry?" he asked in a soft voice, his hands still miraculously working away at his quickly-growing chain of flowers.
Wordcount: 2,300 ish.
Warnings: AU, slash, crossover.
A/N: For Smarmy, as requested on Guyfawkes, from Captain.

Living and Insane

A few things:

&clubs Am now happily set up over at IJ. Am loving my new layout (even though it's craptastic cause I can't do CSS for shite) and the 100 userpics. I don't think I've ever had more than six...*rubs hands together greedily*

&clubs Why has no one ever pointed me towards the love that is Project HBP? It's a WIP illustration project of Half Blood Prince and it's fantastic, even if it never does get finished.

&clubs If you haven't yet seen Harry Potter in the Hood, GO NOW. So effing funny. And, y'know, so effing hot. Guh. He's my new Harry. Sorry, Dan.

&clubs I'm going to be posting some old fic for a while in an attempt to get my creative juices flowing so that I can write some post-DH fic (because no one else seems to be doing much of it -- HINT HINT!!) so apologies if it's not what you are into/were expecting from me.

&clubs Nine weeks and four days until I go and see Nick Cave in concert in Sydney! wo0t! :-)

&clubs I can't believe it's going to be the last [info]merry_smutmas this year. Hope I get in! Last year was oh-god-kill-me-now brilliant. *g*

&clubs You know what the good thing about this whole, horrible, terrible fiasco is? I've realised how much I love fandom. Need fandom. I contemplated the possibility of just saying "Fuck it!" and leaving fandom all together to stew in its own juices -- but I've realised those juices are what keep me going. Ew.

FIC: Different, Somehow, Harry/Draco, NC-17

Moving from LJ to here (and there and there), I was struck at how sad and sparse my fandom activity and participation as a whole has actually been, so I've decided to start dredging up all the discarded (finished) fics I've written over the years and begin posting them. This was written pre-HBP but I sort of edited it to make it fit a little better with DH canon. This isn't exactly stellar stuff, but I need to get the ball rolling. Hopefully there'll be some Sirius/James in the next couple of days. :-)

Title: Different, Somehow
Author: [info]captain_tulip, me.
Pairing: Harry/Draco
Rating: NC-17
Summary: Draco's unfaithful and Harry's an alcoholic. A snippet of their relationship.
Wordcount: 4,500 ish.
Warnings: Slash, offensive language, angst, vague dom/sub undertones, not entirely epilogue-compliant, unbeta'd.
A/N: My first H/D fic since the good ol' days of ff.net, so it's a bit rusty. All recognisable characters/places/events etc are JK Rowling's (et al). And YAY for IJ! It's really starting to grow on me.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Round Two

So I went along today and lined up for the book with [info]smarmypenguin (third in line -- wo0t!) with my Lucius!cane and my Snape!doll and a Harry!tattoo on my face. It was exciting and thrilling and we all counted down, and upon the re-read, I have more things to say.

SPOILERS. SPOILERS. SPOILERS. SPOILERS. DID I MENTION SPOILERS? LOTS AND LOTS OF SPOILERS FOR HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS. YEAH, THE SEVENTH ONE. THE FINAL ONE. THE ONE YOU MAY NOT HAVE READ YET. SPOILERS. AND WAFFLE. I DON'T SAY ANYTHING WORTH READING HERE, GUYS. SERIOUSLY. )

Ok, those are just my IMMEDIATE reactions upon a re-read. TALK TO ME. TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK.

HP RECS

I come bearing recs to tide you over in all the excitement. That is, once you've all finished The Tea Series.

Title: Low Country
Author: [info]peony_hellebore [anon]
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Harry/Hermione, Harry/Severus/Hermione
Summary: "Believe me, he's better off missing with Potter and Granger." Famous last words?
Word Count: ~36,000
Notes: Written for this year's [info]reversathon. Absolutely brilliant. I love these characters and this is one of the most engaging stories I've read in ages. Didn't even notice the het...

Title: A Book You Read in Reverse
Author: [info]zagara
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Snape/Remus, James/Sirius/Remus, James/Sirius
Summary: "Sixteen is too small for all this. He can't want so many people all at once, tugged in so many directions, and still have anything left for himself." Remus in his sixth year.
Word Count: ~40,000
Notes: I love, love, love these pairings. And this story was pure gold. Remus was -- gah! I just wanted to smoosh him.

Oh, and while you're at it, check this out. No spoilers. Just good ol' Snape.
